Assembly Passes WAPA Bill
3/13/2012
The Wisconsin Assembly passed the Physician Assistant Healthcare Access Improvement Act (SB421) this afternoon.
The bill previously passed the Senate, and now goes to the Governor for his signature. A special thank you to all members and Academy partners for their support. Your calls and visits since the bill was first introduced made the difference. Passage of the bill provides that PAs will be now be able to:
Refer patients for physical therapy services;
Order the use of physical restraints in residential facilities as appropriate;
Order home health services as appropriate;
Conduct DOT required drivers’ license medical examinations and sign required forms; and
approve students for return to school following board excused medical absence.
Members are encouraged to contact their legislators and thank them for their support of the Physician Assistant Healthcare Access Improvement Act (SB421).
