Joint Commission Video Addresses Infection Control
4/25/2011
The Joint Commission has released its second Speak Up™ video,
Speak Up: Infection Control
, which encourages patients to speak up and become active participants in their health care.
Produced by The Joint Commission, the 60-second videos are intended as public service announcements. The first video emphasizes the importance of patients feeling comfortable speaking about their health care whether in a doctor's office or at the hospital.
Speak Up: Infection Control
features two new characters, Billy and Helen, along with some of the original cast who share messages about hand washing, staying home during an illness and getting a flu shot. The videos air on The Joint Commission's
YouTube Channel
and elsewhere. The Speak Up program was launched in 2002 and has grown to include 17 campaign brochures and three posters, as well as Spanish language versions of all brochures. Free downloadable files are available on The Joint Commission
website
. Speak Up brochures and posters also may be purchased by calling 877.223.6866 or on The Joint Commission
website
.
