The UWL Gundersen Mayo PA program has been having a wonderful summer.  Second year students are now in the swing of rotations. The first two months of rotations have been full of opportunities to learn and grow on this adventure of learning.  Applying what we've learned in the classroom to real patients is an encouraging time, as well as a reminder that what we know matters; if not already, our medical advice and decisions will have an effect on patients' outcomes.  What excellent motivation to continue our studies and review literature away from the classroom.

The first year students are right in the mix of their first semester of PA school.  These bright and motivated students are absorbing all they can about human anatomy and physiology while finishing up their lessons on medical biochemistry.  They have recently had to select in which health system (Gundersen Health System or Mayo Clinic Health System) they will train for mentorships and rotations in the next two years.  I'm sure this was an exciting day for them!
