Students put education into practice as they complete their first of many Objective Structured Clinical Examinations, or OSCEs. This July, students eagerly completed history and physical exams on their first set of standardized patients and quickly learned how different patient encounters can be to practicing with one another. Faculty and students celebrate the end of the summer semester with a biking/walking food tour that explores the variety of (or lack thereof) markets and food stores around central Milwaukee.

Students, guided by faculty, will travel to several food and corner stores in the central Milwaukee area and survey the food choices that residents in the neighborhood have access to. This immersion tempers academic understanding of the food insecurity affecting urban poor with an experience unique to most students. At the end of the day, the students and faculty will come back together and commune with a picnic.
