portability across compact states and will decrease the administrative burden of a PA having to secure a license in multiple states to practice in them. initiative to modernize the physician-PA relationship.&nbsp;</span><span style="font-weight: inherit; background-color: #ffffff; text-decoration: inherit; line-height: inherit; font-family: arial; color: inherit;">The compact legislation was authored at WAPA’s request by Rep. VanderMeer (R-Tomah), who also authored Act 23, and Sen. Stafsholt (R-New Richmond). There was support by a large, bipartisan list of cosponsors.<br /><br />WAPA members Jenna Brink, Paula Cynkar, and Jamie Silkey were present as Gov. Evers signed the legislation into law. In addition to meeting Gov. Evers, they also had a chance to introduce themselves to our authors and to talk to them a little bit about the PA profession.<br /><br />For the licensure compact to take effect, a total of seven states need to ratify it. Wisconsin is the third state to ratify the compact, joining Utah and Delaware. Instead, we will be working with our executive director and lobbyists to apprise you on in-district meetings with your local legislators. This will afford you an opportunity to meet them and educate them about our profession. Many legislators still do not have a good understanding of the PAs’ experience and education and the broad range of healthcare services we provide. These in-district meetings will be a good opportunity to meet with your legislator and to have these conversations.
